Track Name: Goodnight Goodbye
walking up by alleys and cornerstores, something restores inside you
said i'd get to know her i never did but i intended to
throw something up in the air because the sky is falling down on you
and you want to give back all you got, give back all you got, all that hurts and all that's true

you claw your eyes out every night,
still wonder why you're going blind
you got no time to wonder why
the hours are growing longer
those arms ain't growing stronger
and everyone you thought would last forever has said to you,
goodnight goodbye

you've got a thorny pair of hearts where both your lungs should be
coughing up the blood in the afternoon that should tell you why you can't breathe
there's something down in the pit inside you, clawing out so desperately
but baby when you escape yourself, don't come crawling down inside of me

you claw your eyes out every night,
still wonder why you're going blind
you got no time to wonder why
the hours are growing longer
those arms ain't growing stronger
and everyone you thought would last forever has said to you,
goodnight goodbye

looking up at all of the skies above
the fireflies they love you
every night you stare up and wish you had some little light inside too
every second you feel the waves as they're crashing down on you
the scars are tearing open, your heart is hardly coping
and you might open wide to say
goodnight goodbye

you claw your eyes out every night,
still wonder why you're going blind
you got no time to wonder why
the scars are tearing open
your heart is hardly coping
and everyone you thought would last forever has said to you
goodnight goodbye
Track Name: Halloween
a couple of weeks ago, i tried to go back
(did I tell you this before?)
back to the, back to the, back to the place
where yours was the second drawer

i stood in the threshold, and all of the cobwebs
glimmering dusty and bright
reminded me of the gossamer-fine silences
we'd always tie round each other at night

and it still smells like halloween,
and the way things used to be
will anybody look at me
or open my eyes, so i can finally see?

a couple of days ago, i tried to think back,
but there was something in the way
back to a, back to a, back to a time
i wasn't tired every day

i tried to recall the lightness of limb
the crystalline glow of the sun
awakening me from dreams where i'd see
waterfalls, galaxies, fields where my dog used to run

and it still smells like halloween
the golden fires of the leaves
will someone take a hold of me
and promise there's something inside me i might want to be?
i might want to be

a couple of years from now, i'll stop looking back
at least, that's what they've all implied
back to the, back to the, back to the time
i let you come and curl up inside

i'll find in a city some grey, thirsty block
a lightning-rod building that soars
acquiring sky, and reaching so high,
i'll leave those memories all the way down at the doors.

and it'll smell like christmas trees
the scent of something new and clean
but in all of my realities,
i'll never forget what i've seen
what i've seen
Track Name: The Clockmaker
you know what they say,
i can't ever get out of my own way
and i know this
i know all about myself
i know myself too well

so i came down saturday, beside
the statue of a man who died
twice, when his name went quiet,
quiet
and i met her there
and i met her there
and i met her there,

and i asked the clockmaker how much it would break her
her cogs and bells and wooden ledges
her painted face and gilded edges
to turn back the dial
to turn back the dial for a while

i remember that night, she knows
i was drunk, i was wild, and i tried to overdose
on daily vitamins all pink and blue
get some bitter help from a sweet sweet capsule
and heal myself to death, heal myself to death,
heal myself to death, i couldn't even meet her eyes
but now that we're back here, i'm mesmerized
see the pendulum swinging, i'm hypnotized, oh

and i asked the clockmaker how much it would break her
her cogs and bells and wooden ledges
her painted face and gilded edges
to turn back the dial
to turn back the dial for a while

you know what they say
why can't she just breathe for one day?

and i know this
i know all about myself
i know myself too well

so i'm here to say - don't know if you'll agree -
i've come to see that nothing means nothing.
nothing means nothing,
so do anything you want to me
do whatever you want to me

and i asked the clockmaker how long it would take her
her cogs and bells and wooden ledges
her painted face and gilded edges
to turn back the dial
turn back the dial for a while
for a while
for a while
